ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
When it was announced that Kylian Mbappe would be leaving PSG this summer once his contract ends, speculation was naturally rife. Barcelona have been interested in signing the Frenchman in the past and their fans would love nothing more than to gazump Real Madrid to his signature. However, the prospect of this happening appears extremely unlikely with Laporta giving nothing away.

WHAT LAPORTA SAID
A fan asked Laporta if the club would be going to sign Mbappe, to which the Barca president laughed and said: "You don't know anything!"

THE BIGGER PICTURE
As much as Laporta and Barcelona would love to bring one of the best players in the world to Camp Nou it seems improbable, if not impossible. Not only would the club have to persuade the Frenchman to choose them over Real Madrid, with whom he's been linked with incessantly throughout his career, but they also cannot afford his wages given their financial difficulties.

WHAT NEXT FOR LAPORTA AND MBAPPE?
Mbappe will be linked with every major European club over the next few months until a decision on his future is made official. Real Madrid appears to be Mbappe's dream destination in a move which would see him link up with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior in attack.
